The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting activities including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and preparing account and bank reconciliations. This position assists with monthly closings and account analysis, and supports the Assistant Controllers and the CAO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. 


  • Reconciles and maintains balance sheet accounts 
  • Prepares journal entries (including journal entry uploads) 
  • Codes general and administrative invoices
  • Reconciles intercompany balances
  • Maintains fixed assets schedules 
  • Maintains Oil and Gas property schedules
  • Maintains prepaid expense schedules 
  • Maintains revenue accruals and reversals
  • Assists with monthly closing and preparation of monthly financial statements and reports 
  • Assists with preparation and coordination of the audit/review process 
  • Maintains tie-outs and footing of quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Maintains tie-out and footing of quarterly and annual press release documents 
  • Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by CAO and/or Assistant Controllers



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field 
  • 5+ years’ experience in the management of financial systems, financial data analysis, and auditing 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Access; Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, merges, macros, statistical formulas) 
  • Growing understanding of the practical application of GAAP
  • Experience in oil & gas accounting preferred, but not required 
  • Public accounting experience with SEC clients
  • CPA or CPA eligible
  • Strong team player with excellent communication (verbal and written) skills 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
